Step 1 – Put the video in OneDrive
Open OneDrive on your computer and drag the MP4 file into it. Give it a minute or two to finish uploading — you'll see a green checkmark on the file when it's done.
Step 2 – Open the video online
Right-click the file, select OneDrive, then select View online. The video will open in your browser.
Step 3 – Click Generate Transcript
On the right side of the screen, you'll see a button that says Generate Transcript. Click it and choose English when it asks for the language.
It'll take a few minutes to finish, depending on how long the recording is. You can leave the page and come back.
Step 4 – Read or download the transcript
Once it's ready, click the Read Transcript button to see it. From there you can read through it or download a copy if you need it.
A couple of things to know:
- The transcript won't have people's actual names — it will say "Speaker 1," "Speaker 2," and so on. That's expected when the transcript is created after the meeting instead of during it.
- Once the transcript exists, you can also use Copilot on that same page to summarize the meeting or pull-out action items. That's often quicker than reading the whole thing.
