Use the Microsoft Teams mobile app to capture audio, generate a transcript, and get an automatic summary of an in-person meeting.
Steps
- Open the Microsoft Teams app on your phone.
- Go to the Calendar tab.
- Tap the small icon in the top-right corner (it looks like a camera with lines around it).
- Select "Take Notes with Facilitator."
- Allow microphone access when prompted.
- Start the meeting, then set your phone on speaker in the middle of the table/room.
- When finished, end the meeting as you normally would.
After the Meeting
The recording, transcript, and a recap/summary will automatically save into Teams.
Note on Speaker Labels
Since this is a single phone (not a Teams Room device), the transcript will likely show speakers as generic labels like "Speaker 1," "Speaker 2," etc., rather than by name. Only the phone's account owner can relabel their own entries afterward in the transcript — other speakers' labels can't be auto-corrected.
Tip for Best Results
Keep the phone as close as possible to whoever's speaking, and minimize background noise — accuracy drops the farther someone is from the mic.
