This article provides a solutions to some common external monitor issues.
Distorted Display
If your monitor display appears very zoomed in, or does not fit your screen as it normally would please try the following methods:
- Unplug the monitor from the docking station and plug it back in.
- Look at the back of the faulty monitor and find the wire connecting it to your docking station. (Not the power cord)
- Follow the cord back to where it is plugged into your docking station.
- Unplug the cord from the docking station and plug it back in. (You may have to press down on the end of the cord to release the locking mechanism)
- Reconfigure your scale and display resolution.
- Open the Microsoft Start Menu and search for "Display settings".
- Scroll down to the "Scale & layout" section.
- Use the dropdown menus to change both the "Scale" and "Display resolution" fields to anything other than the recommended setting.
- Then change both of the settings back to the Recommended settings.

Configuring Multiple Monitors
If you are using multiple monitors and want to have each of them showing their own display follow the steps below:
- Open the Microsoft Start Menu and search for "Display settings".
- Navigate to the dropdown menu in the top right of the window and select "Extend desktop to this display".
- Utilize the "Identify" button to confirm each monitor's number as often as you need.
- Drag and drop the numbered monitors in the preview window to the correct orientation, with the goal of allowing your mouse to move past all of them in order horizontally.
- When you are happy with the configuration click on the blue "Apply" button in the preview window.
