Here are self-help instructions for troubleshooting home Wi-Fi issues:
Step 1. Ensure Wi-Fi is enabled & connected
- Click the Wi-Fi icon in the taskbar (bottom-right corner of the screen).

Check if you're connected to a network:

- If connected, ensure it’s the correct network.
- If not connected, select the correct network and click Connect. Enter the password if prompted.

Step 2. Check Airplane Mode Is Turned Off
- Click the Wi-Fi icon in the taskbar (bottom-right corner of the screen).
- Ensure Airplane Mode is turned off (it should not be highlighted).
Step 3. Check Your Connections
- Ensure your router and modem are plugged in and powered on.
- Confirm all cables are securely connected.
Step 4. Restart Your Devices
- Restart your laptop.
- Power off your router. Wait for 10 minutes, then turn it back on.
Step 5. Run the Windows Network Troubleshooter
- Right-click the Wi-Fi icon in the taskbar.
- Select Diagnose network problems.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to let Windows identify and resolve the issue.
Step 6: Restart the Network Adapter
- Click Start > Settings > Network & internet
- Click Advanced network settings at the bottom > Network reset
- Click Reset now and restart your laptop
Step 7. Forget and Reconnect to the Network
- Click Start > Settings > Network & internet
- Click Manage known networks
- Select your Wi-Fi and click Forget
- Reconnect by selecting the Wi-Fi name and entering the password
8. Check Other Devices
- Determine if the issue is specific to one device or all devices.
- If other devices work, the issue may be with the device, not the Wi-Fi.
